At least 50 civilians sustained injuries in clashes between government forces and protesters at two gunfight sites in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday. Medical Superintendent (MS) district hospital Shopian, Dr Shafat told KR that they received at least 50 injured and referred 20 of them to Srinagar hospitals for advanced treatment. “
We are unable to maintain the record of the injured because of the heavy rush,” Dr Shafat said. Seven militants were killed in a gunfight with forces at Draged, Sugan area of Shopian while as another gunfight was going on in Kachdora area. Intense clashes between protesters and government forces were going on near gunfight sites at both the places.
Hundreds of protesters at both the places pelted rocks on forces to disrupt their anti-militant operations. The forces used tear gas shells, pellets and bullets to disperse the protesters.
